Jim Shick

Bio

Born in San Diego California

Bachelor of Arts degree in Photo Illustration from Brooks Institute of Photography in April 1983

Soon after graduating I returned back home to San Diego where I launched Jim Shick photography in June 1983 and was soon offered an in-house photography position at a poster publisher, Front Line Graphics. Posters allowed me to explore my creativity and eventually I became one of the most published poster photographers of that era. As the poster craze of the 80's died down I reignited my business as Shick Photography. I specialized in commercial people and product photography. While still maintaining my business I accepted a position as staff photographer for Pony Express in 2005, an emerging Halloween costume company. When the creative director opened his own Halloween costume manufacture in 2007 I made the move to Palamon International which allowed me to expand my role not only as photographer but also graphic designer, costume designer and office manager since I ran the U.S. office. In 2012 they asked me to relocate to China so I moved to Meridian Auto Parts as their Photographer and Digital Asset Manager. I'm currently doing freelance photography full time and accepting new projects and challenges.

My many experiences have given me the knowledge to handle almost anything in the photo / graphic business world. I look forward to writing new chapters in my book of life and hope you will be included.
